Here you’ll find some important state and national resources to provide health education and guidance.
Medical Insurance
The state of Delaware offers two programs for children that are uninsured. The Delaware Healthy Children Program (DHCP) is a low cost health insurance for eligible children who are uninsured. Delaware also has a Medicaid program for children who come from a low income household.DHCP checks all applicants‚ eligibility for Medicaid. DHCP‚website is http://www.dhss.delaware.gov/dss/dhcp.html for further information and application to the program.
Health insurance enables children to receive preventive and acute health care interventions as needed. Annual physicals are an excellent opportunity to ensure children are growing and developing in a healthy manner and at the same time receive accurate health education and guidance.Several childhood immunizations need boosters and several new immunizations are needed in the preteen/teen years.
Please contact your school nurse with any questions or concerns.Keeping students healthy will enable them to be better learners.
